Once described as the finest walk in the world, the Milford Track is one of New Zealand's most popular walks, with approximately 14000 people completing the Milford track each year in the Fjordland National Park. Your day encounter begins at Real Journeys office in Te Anau, then a short journey along the shores of Lake Te Anau to the Te Anau Downs boat harbour, before cruising for an hour to the spectacular northern end of the lake.
After disembarking at the start of the track you walk 1.6km (1 mile) to historic Glade House, one of the original Milford Track Lodges, dating back to the 1890's. From here the track follows the Clinton River as it meanders through rich beech forest for a further 3.2 km (2 miles) to the Clinton Hut.
Your guide will point out the birdlife and unique aspects of the valley, then take you off the track to show you a few places you might otherwise miss. For those who want a little more of a challenge there will be the option of returning via the Glade Burn track, giving you one final vista of Lake Te Anau before boarding the return launch. This is a summer activity and normally run in the months of November to 18th April.
