Shotover Canyon Swing is adrenalinised adventure at its best. Travel 15 minutes from Queenstown in one of their vans, take a 3-minute bush walk and arrive at their scenic site. The platform is 109m above the spectacular Shotover River. You freefall 60m past rocky cliff faces into the canyon before the ropes smoothly pendulum you into a giant arc of 200m at 150kph.
There are two basic launch methods: jump yourself or be released from their special launch boom. With over 10 different jumpstyles they can expertly manage the scariness for everyone. They are Qualmark endorsed and winners of 2008 in NZ Tourism Awards. They pride ourselves on offering trips with small groups sizes and not rushing the experience and there is often time to have more than one swing and try a different jumpstyle. Total trip is 2.5 hours.
HOW IT WORKS:
Either jump or be released from their purpose built cliff mounted platform 109m/360ft above the spectacular River, then freefall 60m/200ft into the chasm before the ropes smoothly pendulum you into a giant arc of 200ft at 150kph. You are secured in a chest & seat harness which allows you to depart the platform in any position imaginable. There are over 10 ways of jumping or being released from mild to mind blowing. If you can't jump yourself they have a specially designed launch system to release you. Gravity is a toy, come out and play!
