Central Otago is the world's southern most wine producing region situated at 45 south and is New Zealand's only "continental" region. Situated at high altitude, the summers are hot and dry, and the winters crisp and snowy. Combining a huge night to day temperature range and soil types very different than those of other New Zealand regions, make this a very unique wine producing area. Some of New Zealand's very best Pinot Noir wines are produced in this region and have achieved worldwide recognition, often wining Gold medals. Also sample internationally acclaimed Riesling, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
